The Georgia Association of Homes & Services for the Aging (GAHSA) Board of Directors has adopted the following Strategic Objectives for the purpose of establishing direction and priority in carrying out the mission of GAHSA.
These objectives are organized around the three main benefits an association provides to its membership:
- Advocacy
- Networking
- Education
With careful consideration of the history of this organization, its mission statement, its philosophy of services, and the contemporary challenges and opportunities facing the membership of GAHSA, the following strategic objectives have been established:
Regarding Advocacy
To educate the public, regulators, elected officials and other parties of influence about the unique contributions, distinctions, and value of non-profit organizations in providing housing, care and services to the aging.
To educate regulators, and legislators about the impact of pending rules and laws on aging persons and the member organizations seeking to serve those aging persons.
To advocate for changes to laws, regulations, and resource allocations for the betterment of aging persons and the organizations serving those aging persons.

Regarding Education
To equip our members with the educational tools they need to achieve organizational excellence and effectiveness in the field of aging, with particular emphasis on leadership development for all levels of management and board members, tools for attaining financial security and stability, and vision for the future of aging, to meet the changing needs of seniors.
To educate the public about the issues of aging through quality consumer education programs and resources, offered for delivery through member facilities, to the communities served by those member facilities.
Regarding Networking
To establish GAHSA as the premier networking organization in Georgia for the full continuum of services for the aging. This will be done through collaboration with groups and individuals who possess contributing expertise, and who share a common concern for the wellbeing of the aging; when such collaboration contributes positively to the value of GAHSA membership, mission and objectives; without compromising the integrity or resources of GAHSA. |
