Benefits of Membership

The Georgia Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (GAHSA) is the nonprofit association that represents the key providers of mission-driven, quality-focused organizations dedicated to providing services that people need, when they need them, in the places they call home.  Our members offer the continuum of aging services in Georgia:  adult day services, home & community-based services, senior retirement housing, assisted living communities, continuing care retirement communities, nursing homes and hospice care.  These providers are committed to advancing the vision of healthy, affordable and ethical long-term care for older Georgians.

The GAHSA philosophy, summarized by the phrase “Communities that Care”, is based on a commitment to care for the total person.  Our members demonstrate a concern for the social, spiritual, environmental and health needs of the older person entrusted to their care.  We recognize that long-term care housing and community services should be tailored to individual needs.  GAHSA members are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults by placing the needs of the individuals served above all else.

The Georgia Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (GAHSA) is an affiliated partner of the American Association of Homes and Services for the  Aging (AAHSA), which represents over 5,400 nonprofit facilities, serving over one million older adults in the United States and maintains an impressive staff of 86 professionals at its headquarters in Washington, D.C.  GAHSA and AAHSA involve their members in the Associations’ organizational structure to develop educational programming, provide membership services, and to represent and influence public policy which positively impacts the lives of older Georgians.

Our membership represents over 120 housing and service providers, of which 65 percent are faith-based communities. They proudly embrace the continuum of aging services by serving over 124,500 residents and clients in Georgia!  Approximately 4,500 compassionate, caring, and well trained staff serve these older Georgians.
