The GAHSA – GADCA Partnership

Adult Day Center members:
It is now more important than ever that Adult Day Providers come together for networking, education and public policy work.  As you know, GADCA members voted unanimously on February 9, 2006 to become members of Georgia Association of Homes & Services for the Aging (GAHSA).  Therefore, Adult Day Care members of GAHSA will now make up GADCA and become the GAHSA Adult Day Forum.  Georgia Gunter is the facilitator of this group and is the representative on the GAHSA Board of Directors.

This partnership provides many benefits for adult day providers - 1) networking within the continuum of aging services, 2) gaining knowledge through education, 3) becoming involved in the public policy arena and 4) communicating more effectively.

As GAHSA members, GADCA Adult Day Providers will receive all the benefits of membership and will:

  • Become a part of an established, recognized, formal Association with full-time professional staff
  • Benefit from networking and educational opportunities with colleagues that work throughout the continuum of aging services – NOTE:  The Georgia Institute on Aging is the educational arm of GAHSA
  • Become the GAHSA Adult Day Forum (the venue to hold meetings for Adult Day Care members) and be included in a listserv for Adult Day Care members (the vehicle for statewide communication and information sharing)
  • Have a section of the monthly newsletter to share information and educate others throughout the aging network on Adult Day Care issues
  • Benefit from having representation on GAHSA committees like public policy, membership, education/professional development committees
  • Be represented legislatively through the work of GAHSA legislative counsel

Attachments: ADS Synopsis, Revised ADC Rules, Hearing Notice

Attached is the most recent and up-to-date synopsis for the Adult Day Center Rules. I inadvertently e-mailed a prior, incomplete version of the synopsis with my previous email regarding the upcoming public hearing on February 20, 2008 for the Adult Day Center rules.

For your convenience, I have also attached the proposed new rules and hearing notice to this email as well so that you will have all the correct documents in one place. Again, please disregard the synopsis in my previous email as it does not contain the most substantive and complete information. Thank you very much.
