The Social Work position at St. George Village has two key responsibilities. The first is to provide social work services primarily to residents and families of the Wellington Court Health Center and to St. George Village Independent Living residents transitioning to Wellington Court health care programs. The second key responsibility is to serve as the point person for leading the external community public relations effort with key referral sources for Wellington Court health care programs. This key responsibility requires an individual with great personal drive and a comfort level in public speaking/marketing.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Service Coordinator Manager, The
Service Coordinator Aide assists the Lead Service Coordinator in the following
activities: assessing resident needs and provides information and/or referrals for social services; help residents apply for and maintain social services and entitlements; explain information to residents; monitor on-site resident services and networking with community partners in order to foster relationships with and improve services from agencies providing assistance and information to residents; meet w/residents to discuss their situation and help solve problems. Coordinate community building activities; provide enhance socialization opportunities and coordinate informational and educational/wellness presentations; advocate for residents when they are having challenges or disagreements with Authority management, DFCS decisions, or denial of entitlement benefits. Maintain files, complete paperwork and attend to other administrative duties including departmental meetings and serving on agency committees. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate must have the minimum qualifications of three to four years experience in social service delivery with senior citizens and/or non elderly disabled populations. Candidate should have good working knowledge of supportive services and community resources available for older adults with disabilities, principle and practices of social service counseling and case management. Strong ability to handle client interactions with courtesy, tact and sensitivity to the issues involved. Effectively deal with a diverse resident group, culturally and ethnically. Strong verbal and written communication skills and familiarity with computers and Windows based software. Work requires frequent contact with residents, facility managers, and other Housing Authority staff to organize, implement and monitor services, and with a variety of community services providers both public and private. Specific knowledge of Richmond County human services for seniors & persons with disabilities highly preferred. A degree is not required for the SC Aide position however, is preferred in the field of Social Services, Human Services or related field. COMPENSATION: Hourly Rate of Pay is $13.00 to 15.00 hourly depending on experience/education. No benefits
available for part-time position.
