Assisted Living members should continue reviewing the current PCH rules & regulations to identify sections that present challenges in daily operations and the ability to best serve their residents. Please forward this sections numbers and suggestions for changes to Walter Coffey at before the end of November. There is supposed to be a full rules re-write this winter. The policy committee has formed a task group of AL providers to track HB 850 and other AL issues.
We understand from DCH that the rules as they were posted will be presented to the DCH board this month for approval. DCH will add some explanation regarding the intent of administration of medications. Their intent, as we understand it at this point, is that a nurse would administer medications if the memory impaired resident is incapable of feeding themselves. Other programs that have been functioning successful can continue.
