On Oct. 15, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) posted the latest guidance on mandatory use of enterprise income verification (EIV) and changes to other occupancy policies with the current
expected effective date of Jan. 31, 2010. The proposed rule includes provisions exempting current senior
residents who have not yet provided Social Security numbers from losing assistance and/or being evicted.
Citizenship rules would also revert back to what has been in place so far. Comments may be submitted directly to
HUD in writing or electronically to HUD by Nov. 16. All comments must refer to Docket No. FR-5351-P-01.
