MedPAC Releases Report to Congress On Home Health and Hospice
The MedPAC Commission released their Report to Congress that included recommendations on home health and hospice. For home health, MedPAC recommended no market basket update for 2011 and rebasing. They also recommended that a risk corridor and blended payment system be implemented to assure that quality of care does not suffer due to changes in payment. MedPAC recommended more research on the development of measurable outcomes, as well as increasing oversight of agencies that display an unusual pattern of claims. For hospice, MedPAC recommends a market basket update for 2011 less the productivity adjustment.
